Jimmy Davis
Jimmy Davis is a lifelong Bayonne resident who has dedicated his life to public service. A proud graduate of Saint Andrews Grammar School and Bayonne High School, he went on to attend St. John’s University before beginning his professional journey in New York City’s financial district. But in 1986, driven by a desire to give back to his hometown, Jimmy joined the Bayonne Police Department, where he would spend the next 28 years serving the community.
Throughout his law enforcement career, Jimmy held several key roles—working with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Division, leading the department’s Special Crimes Unit, and collaborating with federal agencies like the FBI, the US Treasury, and the Department of Justice. He retired in 2014 with the rank of Captain. He and his wife, Jamie, have raised three sons and remain deeply rooted in Bayonne.
Jimmy’s dedication to civic life has always extended beyond his professional duties. From coaching the Bayonne Police Department’s hockey team to organizing fundraisers for fallen officers and autism support organizations, he’s long been a visible and active figure in the community.
In 2014, Jimmy was elected Mayor of Bayonne, becoming the first candidate in city history to win alongside all five of his council running mates—a feat he would go on to repeat in 2018 and again in 2022.
His “All Community” vision has helped shape one of the most inclusive and representative city governments Bayonne has ever seen. He supported the election of Bayonne’s first African-American Councilman and State Assemblyman and has appointed more women and minorities to leadership roles than any prior administration. He also championed the effort to make the Bayonne Board of Education an elected body, empowering local residents to have a greater voice.
As Mayor, Jimmy Davis has stabilized the city’s finances and ushered in a period of growth, investment, and revitalization. Under his leadership, Bayonne has experienced a social and economic resurgence, positioning it for a strong and sustainable future.
